How to know your face shape in simple steps

To discover the shape of the face, you must tie your hair and photograph the face.

Then, looking at the photo, you must imagine two lines that divide the face: one vertically, which divides the face into "left" and "right" half, and another horizontally, which divides the face into "up" and "short".

Another way to analyze the face is to tie up your hair and stand in front of a mirror, in a well-lit place.  After that, using lipstick, makeup pencil, chalk, or even a whiteboard pen, draw the contour of the face in the mirror, not including the ears, keeping as still as possible and without tilting the head to forward.

The main face types depend on the general shape, and each of them has its specific characteristics:

 1. Round face

In this type of face the vertical and horizontal lines are the same size.  In addition, this type of face does not have straight edges, its angles are poorly defined and very rounded.

This type of face is often confused with the oval type, but in a round face, the forehead is smaller and the distance between the bottom of the nose and the chin is less than the length of the entire nose.

 Most recommended glasses:

When you need to choose sunglasses or prescription glasses, for this type of face you should avoid glasses with rounded lines that accentuate even more the lines of the face.  The ideal is to opt for glasses with straight lines, with rectangular and square models being the most suitable.

 Haircut:

A medium to long haircut should be preferred, which slightly covers the cheekbones.  If the person likes to wear bangs, he should avoid straight cuts and prefer diagonal cuts.

 2. Square face

In the square face type, the vertical and horizontal lines of the face also have the same dimensions, as in the round face, with the big difference that the edges of the face are straighter and more intense.

 Most recommended glasses:

To choose sunglasses or prescription glasses, it is recommended to opt for an aviator or kitten shape, as they are shapes that soften the straight lines characteristic of this type of face.

 Haircut:

More asymmetrical and voluminous haircuts should be preferred.  Short hair also favors this face shape.

 3. Oval face

In the oval face, what happens is that the vertical line is approximately ⅓ longer than the horizontal line, being a slightly elongated face type when compared to the previous ones.  This type of face does not have any angle that stands out.

 Most recommended glasses:

On these types of faces, both rounded and straight eyeglass models look good.  The most important rule is to hit the size of the glasses, which should not be too big or too small, respecting the limit of the face.

 Haircut:

You can opt for more asymmetrical cuts and with movement.  Straight bangs also favor this type of face, as it gives the illusion that the face has shortened its length.

 4. Face heart

In the heart face, the vertical line is longer than the horizontal line, with the chin being more pointed.  In this type of face, the forehead and cheekbones are wide, with similar widths, and the jaw lines are long and straight, tapering to the chin.

Often, this type of face is associated with an inverted triangle, where the chin is the tip of the triangle.

 Most recommended glasses:

When it is necessary to choose prescription or dark glasses, for this type of face, round glasses or with rounded sides are recommended, with the aviator model being the most suitable.

 Haircut:

This face shape is valued with medium haircuts and with volume.  The bangs also flatter the face because it makes the forehead less long.

 5. Oblong or rectangular face

In the oblong (also known as rectangular) face type, the vertical line is almost twice the horizontal line, and the entire face resembles a vertical rectangle.  In this type of face, the side lines are straight and well defined, as are the jaw lines, as in the square face.

The big difference in this type of face is that the jaw has a slight curvature, which makes it less accentuated and less square.  Another important feature is that the forehead tends to be the same width as the jaw, which gives a rectangular appearance to this type of face.

 Most recommended glasses:

As with a square face, you should opt for aviator or kitten-shaped glasses, as they are shapes that help to soften the natural straight lines characteristic of this type of face.

 Haircut:

As with the square face, the haircut should be asymmetrical and have movement.  Bangs can help reduce forehead size.

 6. Diamond face

In the diamond-shaped face, the vertical line is longer than the horizontal line, and as with the heart-shaped face, the chin is highlighted, having a pointed appearance.

The big difference in this type of face is that the wider region is the cheekbones, with the forehead and hairline being narrower (unlike what happens on the heart-shaped face), along with a thin and pointed chin. .  Also, the jaw lines are long and straight, tapering slightly until it reaches the chin.

 Most recommended glasses:

To choose glasses that suit this type of face, it is recommended to choose round glasses, with rounded sides or with an oval bottom.

 Haircut:

The recommended cut for this face shape is the cut, which adds volume and helps to disguise the protrusion of the face.  In addition, straight-cut bangs also favor these types of faces.
